About Us

A few years ago, my husband and I began talking about having children. Both of us felt strongly that we wanted our children to be cared for by one of us. This meant that one of us would need to quit our job. We decided that I would be the one to stay home. But we also knew that it would be financially difficult for us to go down to one income (especially living in the Bay Area). After we became pregnant, I informed my principal (as I was a teacher) that I would not be returning the following year. I started to look for something I could do from home. I had recently begun scrapbooking and enjoyed it immensely. I also began making my own greeting cards. My friends and family loved the cards I was creating. And so, I decided to turn this love into a business. My sister also enjoyed designing and creating her own cards. The two of us teamed up to form Handmade Hellos.

When my sister started making cards I saw how great they looked and began to design some of my own. I fell in love with the craft and was really excited when she approached me about starting a card making business together. With my oldest daughter starting Christian school, I knew we would need some extra income to help pay for that. And I thought what better way to help pay for her education than by doing something I love to do.
